Keep Australia Beautiful NSW (KAB NSW) is thrilled to announce the finalists for the 2023 Sustainable Cities Awards and recognise the extraordinary contributions of all organisations and individuals who have entered this year’s awards.

The 65 finalists are chosen from 11 categories, with winners to be announced on Thursday 12 October at the Sustainable Cities Awards Luncheon, hosted by the 2022 Overall Award Winner, Randwick City Council, at the Prince Henry Centre in Little Bay.

The Sustainable Cities Awards Program has been recognising and rewarding metropolitan Sydney Councils, community groups, businesses, schools and individuals for projects and actions since 1994.  They acknowledge projects that not only enhance the environment but improve the visual amenity and well-being of urban communities, inspiring councils and communities to make a genuine and lasting contribution to their area.

KAB NSW Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director, Val Southam said “The quality of the competition this year has been outstanding, making it difficult for our judging panel to select winners for each category.

“The commitment of the councils, organisations and individuals who entered is evident in the calibre of the entries received this year. These awards continue to bring us inspiring stories from the greater Sydney region, and I would like to congratulate this year’s finalists and thank everyone who entered.”

The awards are hosted by Keep Australia Beautiful NSW with support from the NSW Environment Protection Authority, Randwick City Council, Red Energy and TerraCycle.

About KAB NSW

Keep Australia Beautiful NSW (KABNSW) is the state’s premier organisation for litter reduction and environmental sustainability. Independent and not-for-profit, our focus is to engage communities to make NSW the least littered state in Australia, transforming littering behaviour to create a beautiful and more sustainable environment.

Over a 40-year history we have built a state-wide network of dedicated individuals, businesses, schools, community groups and government bodies striving to deliver a cleaner environment.

Through five core programs we work with communities across regional, metropolitan, and coastal NSW to educate and motivate environmental initiatives.
