Graffiti Action Day was launched in 2010 in response to growing dissent about graffiti vandalism. The day aimed to unite and engage communities in combating the problem, which has a significant social and financial impact on communities.

Graffiti Action Day 2011 concentrated efforts and resources in the top 40 Local Government Areas (LGAs) with the highest incidence of reported graffiti vandalism. LGAs outside the Top 40 are still a vital part of the campaign and Keep Australia Beautiful NSW welcomes your involvement.

Graffiti Action Day aims to:
  • Engage the community in the removal of graffiti
  • Raise awareness of good graffiti removal methods
  • Support non-government and community run facilities in repairing damage caused by graffiti

Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design

As well as cleaning and removal projects, Graffiti Action Day encourages the use of Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED). We focus on the use of planting trees and native local plants to deter graffiti.

Groups within the Top 40 affected LGAs can apply for a small grant to further their own CPTED activities. More information about CPTED is here.
