Proudly sponsored by Sydney Water, the Keep Australia Beautiful NSW Clean Beaches – Connecting Our Coast Awards 2012 are NOW OPEN.
In 2012 Sydney Water has shown their commitment to coastal sustainability by coming on board as a principle sponsor of the Clean Beaches – Connecting our Coast Awards Program. This will allow Keep Australia Beautiful NSW to broaden our reach; to identify and recognise even more outstanding environmental initiatives that raise public awareness on a range of environmental issues affecting coastal NSW. Dune and habitat conservation, environmental education, anti-litter, waste management and visitor friendly initiatives are among some of the projects that are awarded.
The Sydney Water Clean Beaches Awards are open to ALL coastal regions of NSW.
“Through the Clean Beaches Awards Program, we look forward to sharing our expert knowledge, experience and resources to empower those who care about our beaches to actively work towards a cleaner, more sustainable marine environment.” said Kevin Young, Managing Director at Sydney Water of the 2012 Awards.

“Winter is the time of year when beachside councils and community groups can assess the needs of their beach for the next busy summer. This program is a fun motivator during the quieter season and a great opportunity to get everyone involved in caring for the beach. Having Sydney Water come on board as principal sponsor will ensure we get the message out. If you love, and care for your beach we want to know about it!” said Peter McLean, Chief Executive Officer of Keep Australia Beautiful NSW.
Beginning in June Keep Australia Beautiful NSW will be conducting seminars in the State's coastal communities. Yolande Presland, Programs Manager, will meet with local councils, surf life-saving clubs, community groups and individuals who are interested in participating in the Sydney Water Clean Beaches Awards Program this year.
