Keep Australia Beautiful NSW and Sydney Water
join forces to celebrate sustainability initiatives
Keep Australia Beautiful NSW and Sydney Water last night announced a new partnership that will recognise and reward communities in their efforts to protect and enhance their environment.
Peter McLean, CEO of Keep Australia Beautiful NSW said the organisation is teaming up with Sydney Water to deliver the Clean Beaches and Sustainable Cities programs over the next three years.
“Through partnering with Sydney Water to deliver these programs, we will be able to encourage and recognise community action and take the message of sustainability to a much wider audience.”
Mr McLean said Sydney Water had been a valued supporter of Keep Australia Beautiful NSW for the past 10 years.
“They know how we work, what we do and how passionate we are about sustainability,’ he said.
“It is important that we recognise people who take on the role of caring for their local environment. From councils and business, to community groups and individuals; all play an invaluable role in keeping our beaches and towns healthy, creating sustainable environments for future generations”.
Sydney Water Managing Director Kevin Young said Sydney Water was perfectly placed to assist Keep Australia Beautiful NSW bring its programs to more people.
“Sydney Water wants to help Keep Australia Beautiful see even greater involvement from the NSW community, to celebrate their work and show others that great things can be achieved when a community pulls together,” Mr Young said.
“Sydney Water is committed to sustainability and protecting the environment. I am delighted that this partnership will help celebrate the achievements of local communities as they enhance beaches and towns.”
The announcement was made to an audience of government, business and community leaders gathered for the annual Premier’s Dinner, which is hosted at NSW Parliament House by Keep Australia Beautiful NSW, the state’s leading community-focused environmental organisation.
