As part of the program ClubsNSW and the Department of Environment and Climate Change (DECC) NSW signed a three year agreement in Feburary 2007 to work together to help make the Club Industry more environmentally sustainable.

EcoClubs raises awareness of the business benefits of environmental sustainability, or "going green" as many club managers describe it. So far, over 50 clubs have joined this program.

The Alcoa Australia Rolled Products plant at Yennora is home to the largest aluminium recycling facility in Australia.  This facility recycles around 70,000 tonnes of scrap aluminium per year including over half a billion cans.

Aluminium is 100 per cent recyclable with no loss of quality, and the recycling process uses only 5 per cent of the energy needed to make new metal from scratch providing significant greenhouse benefits and diverting waste from landfill.

Aluminium is endlessly recyclable, and it is estimated that nearly three-quarters of all aluminium ever made since 1886 remains in use today.
