Sustainable Gardens Competition
A new endeavour this year, the Challenge aims to recognise the achievements of individuals, schools, community groups and councils in creating and maintaining gardens that not only look good but achieve positive and sustained outcomes for the environment.
Tidy Towns
Launched in 1981 Tidy Towns continues to be the largest practical environmental program serving regional New South Wales. Around 130 cities, towns, villages and schools throughout the state participate in the annual program. Awards are presented each year for the overall Tidiest Town and a number of sponsored awards recognising issues such as heritage, waste, habitat protection and business partnerships.
Sustainable Cities
Sustainable Cities recognises outstanding environmental initiatives implemented by local government authorities, schools and community groups whilst raising public awareness of a range of environmental issues affecting metropolitan NSW. The overall Sustainable Cities award is presented each year alongside a number of sponsored awards covering issues such as urban wildlife, waste and sustainable communities.
Clean Beach Challenge
The Clean Beach Challenge is a fun competition, which aims to enhance beachside communities by promoting personal initiative, civic pride and environmental awareness. Through competition and awards, the program provides recognition to people who care for their community and coastal environment.
Waste Watchers
Since 1994 Waste Watchers has increased the understanding of waste, litter and stormwater issues for primary aged school children across NSW. Through curriculum linked sessions, simple yet effective messages are communicated to over 30,000 students a year.
